This section provides student interns with all of the information they will need to successfully complete the TRFT Internship Program. Here is how to get started:
1. Register for one of the internship courses: TA 198 or RTVF198
Interns must be registered for either RTVF198 or TA198 courses WHILE THEY ARE DOING the internship. Retroactive credit is not allowed, according to TRFT Department and SJSU University Policy.
2. Interns must download and read the following document BEFORE they do ANYTHING else. Just like every other class, the Internship Course (RTVF198 and TA198) has a syllabus/greensheet.

RTVF & TA 198
Course
GREENSHEET |
The RTVF198 or TA 198 Course syllabus or greensheet contains a thorough explanation of all requirements. At the end of the syllabus is the semester schedule that lists the various deadlines for required paperwork. |
3. Use the first couple of weeks of the semester to secure your internship.
Interns should contact organizations where they would like to work and complete any required internship applicationsor interviews. The Internship Director can discuss internship possibilities with student interns (placements we've work with in the past, etc.) but, ultimately, students must secure their own internship.
All internship assignments must be approved by the Internship Director. You don't necessarily have to meet with the Internship Director in person, you can contact him/her by email (preferred) or by telephone.
4. Once you have secured an internship with an approved organization, attend the orientation meeting and submit the required documents.
ORIENTATION MEETING
Tuesday, September 9th @ 3:00 p.m. at HGH #114. By this meeting, student interns should have chosen their internship and completed an internship contract. STUDENTS MUST NOT BEGIN WORK BEFORE SUBMITTING A CONTRACT WITH REQUIRED SIGNATURES FROM THE INTERNSHIP SITE. Repeating: students and supervisor must fill out and sign both documents BEFORE any work is done.

The TRFT Department Contract (one page) is to establish the student assignment with the site.
The University Placement Agreement is kept on file for two years and establishes a formal relationship between SJSU and the outside internship organization. If your internship site has submitted the University Placement Agreement within the last two years, you only have to fill out the department (one page) form. |
5. Attend the FINAL course meeting and submit all required documents.
FINAL MEETING
Tuesday, December 9th @ 3:00 p.m. at HGH #114. All final paperwork is due by this meeting including the site supervisor's evaluation.
